Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Sporting Hill Elementary School.

Sporting Hill is one of seven elementary schools in the Cumberland Valley School District; which also includes one high school and two middle schools. Our school services students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. After completing elementary school, our students will attend Good Hope Middle School. Cumberland Valley encompasses four townships over one hundred and five square miles in Cumberland County, in Central Pennsylvania.

Sporting Elementary houses approximately 740 students. Our grade levels have on average, five teachers per grade level. Class sizes fall within the thresholds set forth by Cumberland Valley School District.

Our school population encompasses a diverse population, which has given our students the wonderful opportunity to learn from each other. Our staff is dedicated to serving each child as an individual and providing a rich learning experience where every student is encouraged to meet his or her potential.

The Sporting Hill Faculty and Staff include about 45 teachers, a guidance counselor, nurse, and strong support staff.  Our professional staff includes specialists in reading clinic, instructional specialists, speech, ESL (English as a Second Language), OT (Occupational Therapy), psychology, and learning support.  In addition to standard instruction in language arts, math, science, and social studies, CV elementary schools also provide art, music, library, computer, and physical education.

There are many opportunities for parents to be involved in our school. We have a healthy and committed Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) which meets monthly. This organization provides many of the events that make Sporting Hill a special place to come to school. All parents are encouraged to participate as we continue to grow in our efforts to support students and make our school a fun place to come and learn each day.
