Portrait of an eagle

Ava Petrosky portrait

Since starting Portrait, I have noticed students compliment each other about how they demonstrate the competencies. Students tell me the lessons are fun and give them the chance to learn how to take care of themselves while building confidence.

Portrait of an Eagle has given me the ability to dive deeper into the content of my courses. We focus on the how and the why instead of just the what and the when. It's helped my students to grow.

Welcome to Sporting Hill Elementary School, one of eight Cumberland Valley School District elementary schools. Working to establish a community of responsible students, our vision, “Learning to be a better version of me,” is interwoven into all aspects of our school day. Sporting Hill Elementary School encompasses a diverse population of approximately 570 kindergarten through 5th-grade students. Our dedicated team of staff members serve each child as an individual and provide a rich learning experience where every student is encouraged to meet their full potential. The mission of Sporting Hill is to provide a respectful, nurturing, and empathetic school environment to ensure our students grow academically and personally. Our committed Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) provides many events that make Sporting Hill a special place to come to school. Working as one, our staff, families, and community members collaborate and focus all decisions on the direct, positive impact it will have on our students.
